I have seen many couple situations and have found no one school of therapy works best.  But to name a few approaches I use: Often I draw on Stan Tatkin’s PACT therapy which is “attachment based”.  I also use Gestalt approaches, as well as several types of communication theory and conflict resolution.    Additionally, I work with Internal Family Systems (IFS) of  Richard Schwartz , or Gottman’s contributions, and  psychodrama approaches. Etc. (That’s the biggest school).

Couples sessions are typically 60-90 minutes.

Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right or wrong. It's about understanding what is actually happening between two people — and why. Each person brings their own history, their own attachment patterns, their own way of reaching out or shutting down under stress. When those patterns collide, the relationship suffers. When they are understood, something new becomes possible.
